I looked around the circle and made eye contact with each child. They all sat silently, mouths agape, eagerly hanging on my next words.
Haaaa ha ha ha ha! In your dreams! Seriously, what teacher wouldn't want a class to listen like that? I admit, I usually have that nightmare where my students are jumping around the classroom ad throwing things. However, if you have a few minutes to stick in a short read-aloud, you just may experience my daydream, if only for a few seconds at a time.
This book is a collection of short stories to read aloud, aimed at ages 8-15. Created for teachers (and parents) to read to their students, it consists of ten stories, ranging from science fiction to fantasy to real-life adventure. Some of the stories are true, some are true but slightly fictionalized, and some are simply fiction in a "what if?" style. For example, what if an alien needed to make peanut butter cookies? What if a science teacher grew plants with an attitude? Dive into these what-ifs, and light up iyour children's imagination.
